PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES (1965) poster art

Until today I had never seen this piece of poster art for the Bava classic of science fiction horror PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. It is gorgeous, don't you think? I cannot wait for the soon to be released Blu-Ray of this underseen film and hope that it is packed with hours of extras. I know Bava expert and biographer Tim Lucas is producing a commentary track for the disc but I wish for more, of course. At the very least a look at the amazing poster art for the film from around the world would be in order.

This an excellent example of someone taking the concept of the 'mash-up' to a new level! Here we have the audio for the second PROMETHEUS trailer married to visuals from Mario Bava's brilliant PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. Words fail me.

Seven minutes of heaven from Bava

Nobody did atmosphere better than Mario Bava. Here's a few minutes from his excellent PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES a.k.a. Terrore Nello Spazio in Italian with subtitles. Amazing stuff that shows the debt ALIEN has to this film.

I love this classic Mario Bava terror tale and have searched for its various different posters for years. I've found several but this one I had never spotted until a few dyas ago. WOW!
How many more might there be out there waiting?

Some how when I start posting poster art for this Bava master work I neglected the American AIP art. It's very nice, don't you think?

I love this movie!

A few months ago I posted a different beautiful poster for Mario Bava's amazing PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. This appears to be the Spanish artwork from its original release and although not as creepy as the earlier one it's still very nice.

I may have to track down every bit of ad art done for this film.

This is easily the best poster art for the Mario Bava masterwork PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES that I have ever seen. I found this image a few months ago and was stunned that I'd never seen it before. Haunting and beautiful, this is the perfect artwork to entice folks to see this wonderfully spooky science fiction film. Or at least folks like me!

At times I think PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES is my favorite of Bava's movies. Mostly I think of DANGER:DIABOLIK as my favorite and THE MASK OF SATAN as the best but this movie really hits all my geeky buttons. Science fiction/horror/hot Italian babes/cool alien landscapes/possession/a derelit alien spacecraft with dead aliens. That's a lot of buttons! And the creepy score is great too.

I've watched the great MGM DVD of this more than 10 times over the past few years and since learning that the Italian DVD print is slightly longer I've been very tempted to buy it as well. The added bits are not supposed to be significant but.........
