Poster art for October
I first encountered Jess Franco's A VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD in the worst possible way. This was via a video tape which had the butchered version of the film put together by the producers that inserted crappy zombie stalking footage throughout the film in a misguided attempt to have some obvious 'living dead' things in view. That Franco had made a beautiful, lyrical ghost story in which the living and the dead co-mingle in fascinating ways was lost on these idiots and so an appalling, laughable version of this minor masterwork was foisted on the public. Luckily now the correct, original film is easily available and I highly recommend it to the more daring and open minded horror fans. It's a wonderful movie.
